The Scarred Tree
A man searches for a scar, left on the side of a tree a lifetime ago, by two people he used to know.
The scar is small. So much so that you could miss it if you didn’t know to look. Even if you did, you’d likely struggle to see it.
The man finds the scar. Much like the memory of those who left it, it has faded. It is a shadow. A remnant of what once was, and is no longer.
Those who left the mark no longer exist. Like the mark itself, these people are something different now. Something old. Something new. Memories. Moments, frozen and weathered by time.
The scar will continue to fade. As will the memories, and the people that once were, and no longer are.
